Anti-terrorist security of facilities will be strengthened

In the second and third readings, the State Duma adopted amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and Article 151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure on criminal liability for violating the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of objects and territories. This was reported in the press service of the State Duma.

Following the law, criminal liability for violation of the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of facilities or territories will be threatened if a person has been brought to justice two or more times within 180 days for a similar administrative offense.

So, suppose a violation of the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of objects (territories) negligently caused severe harm to human health or significant damage (from 1 million rubles). In that case, imprisonment for up to three years will be threatened if this leads to the death of a person - it takes up to five years; in case of the death of two or more persons - up to seven years.

Under current legislation, only administrative liability is provided for violations of the requirements for anti-terrorist protection of facilities: a fine for citizens up to 5 thousand rubles, for officials - up to 50 thousand rubles, and for legal entities - up to 0.5 million rubles.

The law comes into force on July 1, 2024.
