Bashkiria and the Gomel region of Belarus signed cooperation agreement

The parliaments of Bashkortostan and the Gomel region of Belarus signed a cooperation agreement. The document was signed by Chairman of the State Assembly - Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan Konstantin Tolkachev and Chairman of the Gomel Regional Council of Deputies Ekaterina Zenkevich. The signing ceremony took place at the Toratau Congress Hall in Ufa.

The text of the agreement consists of 12 articles. Among the main areas is the improvement of legislation, increasing the openness of activities, exchanging experience in preserving and developing traditions, organizing monitoring of legislation, and developing information exchange.

The document also provides for the exchange of legal acts, information, analytical materials, joint conferences, seminars, meetings, consultations, the creation of joint working groups, and assistance in establishing and developing business contacts. Particular attention will be paid to protecting the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, ensuring socio-economic development, social protection of the population, environmental protection, and other areas of public relations.

Commenting on signing the agreement, Konstantin Tolkachev noted that the document aims to strengthen and expand ties with the Republic of Belarus.

“In the face of unprecedented pressure from the collective West, which has imposed a record number of sanctions on us, it is essential to develop ties with the parliaments of friendly states. We are developing close communications with the Gomel Regional Council of Deputies. Cooperation between Bashkortostan and this Belarusian region is developing very intensively. We held a meeting with the Gomel delegation in Ufa, paid a return visit to them, and within the framework of this forum, we came to the signing of a cooperation agreement. Such contacts promote economic cooperation and strengthen education, science, and cultural relations. Also, undoubtedly, it will be useful to exchange experience in regional legislation. This will save the time and resources of parliaments and the executive branch to solve certain problems. It is important that the residents of both regions feel the social and economic effect of such interaction,” the speaker of the State Assembly said.

Earlier, Bashinform News Agency wrote that the Chairman of the Parliament of Bashkortostan, Konstantin Tolkachev, held a meeting with leaders, members of the delegations of the legislative bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus - participants in the X Russian and Belarusian Regions Forum in Ufa.
