Fine for illegal foreign messenger’s use will be up to 700 thousand rubles in Russia
Only the transfer of important documents through them in the provision of public and banking services is subject to a ban.
Deputies of the State Duma adopted amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses in the third reading, establishing liability for the illegal use of foreign messengers.
We are talking about their use for transferring payment documents and personal data to provide public services, fulfilling a state or municipal task, and selling goods and services by banks and state-owned companies.
For officials, fines will range from 30 to 50 thousand rubles for legal entities - from 100 to 700 thousand rubles.
The initiative’s authors remind us that the law, in some cases, prohibits the use of foreign messengers for the transfer of personal data and financial information, as well as the connection to such messengers of information systems for money transfers. This provision came into force on March 1, 2023.
