The Kurultai of Bashkiria completed a draft agreement on cooperation between the State Assembly of the Republic and the Gomel Regional Council of Deputies. As Bashinform News Agency was told in the regional parliament's press service, the document's signing is planned within the framework of the 10th anniversary Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus, which will be held in Ufa at the end of June.
“The draft agreement defines the main directions and forms of cooperation between the regional parliaments. Our common task is to strengthen and expand ties and exchange experiences on the principles of equality and partnership. Within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation, we plan to work on improving the regulatory legal framework, exchange best practices in monitoring legislation and analyzing law enforcement practices, and develop information exchange. Cooperation involves, among other things, the holding of joint events, the creation of working groups, and the exchange of official delegations,” explained State Assembly Speaker Konstantin Tolkachev.
The Bashkir side expressed confidence that implementing the agreement would help improve the legislative process in both republics and strengthen interstate cooperation between Russia and Belarus.
