Vladimir Putin cancels visa regime for Georgian citizens from May 15

Vladimir Putin cancels the visa regime for Georgian citizens from May 15, 2023. The corresponding decree of the President of Russia on the procedure for entry into the Russian Federation and exit from the Russian Federation of citizens of Georgia has been published on the official portal, Bashinform News Agency reports.

According to the document, from May 15, 2023, citizens of Georgia enter and leave Russia without issuing visas based on valid documents proving their identity (passport of a citizen of Georgia, diplomatic passport, service passport, sailor's book, travel document for returning to Georgia).

The exception applies to citizens entering the Russian Federation to carry out labor activities or for more than 90 days for a temporary stay in the Russian Federation, including to obtain an education.

Citizens of Georgia are sent to the Russian Federation as employees of the Georgia Interests Section at the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Russian Federation, and their family members are issued single-entry visas for three months. After the said employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation are accredited, such employees and members of their families, during the entire accreditation period, enter and leave the Russian Federation without issuing visas.
