Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to establish the medal "For Courage". The corresponding decree of the Head of State was published on the official portal on March 23.
“The medal “For Courage” is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation for bravery and courage shown in the course of combat and other operations to protect the Fatherland and the state interests of the Russian Federation, as well as to maintain or restore international peace and security,” the provision on the medal says.
The medal can also be awarded to foreign citizens and stateless persons. It has two degrees, the highest of which is the I degree. The award may be made posthumously.
