During his visit to Iran, the Head of Bashkiria said that the region’s authorities are ready to subsidize Ufa-Tehran flights to pay back if any Iranian airline is interested in organizing the route. Radiy Khabirov met with Iranian Vice President for Economics Mohsen Rezai on March 13. The press service of the Head of the Republic reported that the parties discussed cooperation in the spheres of economy, culture, and science.
Radiy Khabirov noted the importance of joint work in modern realities: “We look with great respect at how the Iranian economy has developed in difficult conditions, creating new technological products. I am sure that if we combine our potential, it will have an even greater effect.”
“We are following the path of strengthening cooperation with Russia and its regions. In the context of many years of economic and political pressure from the West, we have common tasks to respond to these challenges,” Mohsen Rezai said.
The Head of Bashkiria spoke about the first results of the work of the delegation of Bashkortostan in Iran and the proposed initiatives, noting that at the meetings in the ministries and departments of Iran, an understanding was reached that bilateral trade, which today is at the level of $100 million a year, can be increased several times. At the same time, there are many opportunities for the formation of cooperative ties.
“Bashkortostan is one of the leading centers of the Russian petrochemical industry and mechanical engineering. Our enterprises have built oil refineries in many countries, including the Middle East. For two consecutive years, we have been the best region in Russia regarding the effectiveness of the implementation of industrial policy. We are among the leaders in the region in terms of scientific and technological development. And we would like the delegation’s visit to become a starting point for closer cooperation between Bashkortostan and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Radiy Khabirov.
Among the nearest plans is the participation of the Bashkortostan delegation in the Iran Oil Show in May 2023. A delegation of Iranian business circles will visit the Ufa specialized exhibition “Gas. Oil. Technologies".
In the fall of 2023, on the eve of Republic Day, it is planned to hold Days of Iran in Bashkortostan.
The agreements also include the supply of agricultural products from Bashkortostan and the purchase of several oil products and medical equipment from Iran, the development of tourist and cultural exchange.
As Bashinform News Agency reported, organizing tours between Iran and Bashkiria was discussed in 2017. The Federal Air Transport Agency planned to launch flights to Iran from Ufa and several Russian cities in 2022.
