Vladimir Putin amended State Cultural Policy Fundamentals

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on changes in the foundations of the state cultural policy. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

The Decree states: “The people of the Russian Federation are faced with the task of saving the people of Russia, preserving the fundamental values and principles on which the unity of Russian society is based, ensuring the further development of the country as a social state that guarantees the protection of human rights and freedoms, and improving the quality of life of citizens.

This is possible only under consistent investments in a person in preserving and strengthening the all-Russian civic identity based on traditional Russian spiritual and moral values. Recently, such assets were insufficient, creating a humanitarian crisis threat. This threatens the country with the destruction of traditional values, the weakening of unity, the decline in the intellectual and cultural level of society, the growth of aggression and intolerance.”

An adjusted cultural policy should form the state order for the creation of works of literature and art, as well as ensure the cultural sovereignty of Russia.

Also, cultural policy tasks are countering the "excessive use of foreign vocabulary" among the state.

As Bashinform News Agency reported, the President signed the Decree on the fundamentals of cultural policy on December 24, 2014. “The processes of educating citizens, especially children and youth, come to the fore, increased attention is paid to spiritual, creative development, the education of patriotism, as well as the creation of a high-quality cultural environment throughout Russia, accessible cultural benefits and equal conditions for creative activity,” said the Head of State.
