Vladimir Putin signed a law with complete ban on LGBT propaganda

The law on the prohibition of propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, gender reassignment, and pedophilia came into force. The document, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is published on the official portal.

Amendments have been made to the Law "On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection" and other documents. According to them, such propaganda is wholly prohibited on social media, the media, cinema, and advertising. Thus, a film that promotes non-traditional sexual relations or preferences, pedophilia, or gender reassignment, will not be able to receive a distribution certificate.

The dissemination of such information to minors is expressly prohibited. It is planned to create a mechanism that will restrict children's access to listening to or viewing LGBT information on paid services. You will need to enter codes or perform other actions to verify your age.

Roskomnadzor can include resources to promote non-traditional relationships, pedophilia, and sex change in a single register of prohibited information for its subsequent blocking. It also acquires the right to determine the monitoring procedure for identifying such information on the Internet. An organization authorized by the government will carry out monitoring.

If the promotion of pedophilia and LGBT concerning minors was previously prohibited, now this applies to persons of any age.

The law comes into force from the day of its publication.
