Bashkortostan delegation arrived on official visit to Uzbekistan

On May 16, the delegation of Bashkortostan, headed by the Head of the Republic, Radiy Khabirov, arrived on an official visit to Uzbekistan. At the Nukus airport, she was met by the chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Murat Kamalov.

The delegation included members of the regional government, heads of relevant ministries and departments, development institutions of Bashkortostan, large enterprises of the republic, as well as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses and public organizations. This was reported by the press service of the Head of Bashkiria on Monday.

Within the framework of the visit, a meeting will be held between the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, and the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov. The Head of the Region will hold talks with the chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Murat Kamalov and the Khokim of the Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov, heads of enterprises of Uzbekistan.

Radiy Khabirov will also meet with the trade representative of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan Konstantin Zlygostev. The parties will discuss the functionality of employees from Bashkortostan who will work under the Trade Representative Office. This will help strengthen the presence of the region in Uzbekistan and increase mutual trade and investment. They plan to organize an exposition of goods from manufacturers of Bashkortostan at the Trade Representative Office.

On May 18, a presentation of the investment and economic potential of Bashkortostan will take place. It will result in the signing of investment agreements and intentions in the amount of about $200 million.

It is also planned to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the national libraries of Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan, to discuss the prospects for expanding cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural spheres.

At the end of the visit, Radiy Khabirov will meet with people from Bashkortostan who live and work in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan ranks 11th with a share of 2.5 percent in the total volume of the republican trade turnover. In 2021, the volume of foreign trade turnover between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan amounted to $113.3 million, of which 86 percent is export. Bashkortostan exported chemical industry products, rubber, wood and pulp and paper products, metals and metal products, engineering products, and other goods. The main import positions from Uzbekistan are metals and products from them, engineering products, food products, textiles and mineral products.

56 enterprises with the participation of Uzbekistan capital operate in Bashkortostan. In the 2021/2022 academic year, about 900 students from Uzbekistan are studying at the universities of the republic.
