Members of Russian Security Council came to consensus on recognition of DNR and LNR independence
Today, February 21, the heads of the DPR and LPR Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed republics.
“On behalf of the whole people, we ask you to recognize the republics as independent, democratic, legal, social states,” they said. They also asked to consider the possibility of concluding an agreement on friendship and cooperation between the republics and Russia, which, among other things, will provide for cooperation in the field of defense.
In this regard, a meeting of the Security Council was held, it was broadcast live on the Rossiya 24 TV channel. Members of the Security Council unanimously spoke in favor of recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR.
“I heard your opinion. The decision will be made today,” the President said after listening to the positions of the meeting participants.
