Leningrad siege survivors will receive 50 thousand rubles each - Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a one-time payment of 50 thousand rubles to the defenders of Leningrad, the Kremlin's website reports.
The initiative is associated with the 80th anniversary of the "Road of Life" opening - the only transport road connecting the city with the rest of the country during the war years.
"In 2021, to make a lump sum payment of 50,000 rubles to citizens of the Russian Federation who were awarded the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad" or the badge "Resident of the besieged Leningrad"permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation, in the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Estonia, in the territories The Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of South Ossetia and Transnistria," the official statement says.
As Vladimir Putin emphasized at a meeting with the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, supporting the Leningrad siege survivors is a sacred moral duty.
"I ask you, together with the federal departments, to pay special attention to issues related to the registration of this payment so that people can receive it in a timely manner, without red tape and unnecessary paperwork," RIA Novosti quotes the Russian leader.
Recall that in September, on the initiative of Vladimir Putin, all pensioners (10 thousand rubles each) and the military and law enforcement officers (15 thousand rubles each) received lump-sum payments in Russia on the initiative of Vladimir Putin.
