State Duma supported amendments on new measures of targeted support for families with children

Yesterday, at a plenary session of the State Duma, a bill passed the second reading, which aims to implement the tasks set in the Address of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In particular, the first amendments focused on supporting the family were adopted. We are talking about changes in the laws governing the payment of child benefits and sick pay.
One of the amendments concerns the amount of allowance for women who are registered for medical treatment in the early stages of pregnancy.
"The size of such an allowance will be half of the subsistence minimum, and from July 1, those who have an average per capita income in the family does not exceed the subsistence minimum in the region," explained the Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin.
The second amendment introduces from July 1 of the current year a monthly allowance for a child between the ages of eight and sixteen, inclusive. This benefit will be paid to parents in single-parent families with incomes below the subsistence level in the region. The amount of the payment will be equal to half of the children's regional subsistence minimum. The amount of the benefit must grow with the cost of living. The national average is 5.6 thousand rubles. The norm will take effect since July 1, 2021.
Another initiative provides for one hundred percent payment of sick leave for caring for children under the age of seven, regardless of the length of employment of the parents.
"This will primarily affect mothers with limited previous employment and will support young families with preschool children. If the amendments are adopted in the third reading, from September 1, 2021, it will be paid at the rate of 100% of the average earnings," MP Ramzil Ishsarin marked.
