Bashkiria Parliament adopted draft law on three-day voting in first reading

Today, on April 22, at the plenary session of the State Assembly, the deputies adopted in the first reading the draft law, which provides for the possibility of voting in elections for several days in a row, but not more than three days.
With the adoption of the law in a new format, elections of deputies of the State Duma of the eighth convocation and additional elections of deputies to representative bodies of local self-government will be able to be held. The election campaign will take place in September.
"The draft law aims to bring the republican legislation on elections in line with the provisions of the Federal Law "On Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Right to Participate in a Referendum of Citizens of the Russian Federation," parliamentary speaker Konstantin Tolkachev said. "The ability to vote for several days will allow more voters to take part in the elections, which means that the voting results will better reflect the opinions and political preferences of citizens."
The bill also specifies the requirements for observers and the conditions for conducting election campaigns. It regulates the procedure for the Central Election Commission to apply to Roskomnadzor with a proposal to suppress the distribution of campaign materials that violate the requirements of the law.
