Vladimir Putin is entitled to run for two more presidential terms

Russian President Vladimir Putin received the right to run for two more presidential terms. The corresponding law, which, among other things, will bring the documents regulating the conduct of elections and referendums in line with the amendments to the Constitution, was adopted today by the deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
"You can be elected president for no more than two terms. At the same time, this restriction does not apply to those who held the post of head of state before the amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation entered into force," the press service of the lower house of the Russian parliament reports.
The authors of the initiative were MPs Pavel Krasheninnikov and Olga Savastyanova, as well as Senator Andrei Klishas.
Following the requirements of Article 81 of the Constitution, the law "On Presidential Elections" stipulates that a citizen of Russia "at least 35 years old, permanently residing in the country for at least 25 years, who does not have and did not previously have citizenship of a foreign state or a residence or other document" can run for the presidency.
