Radiy Khabirov honored memory of peacekeeping soldiers

Today in Russia, they remember the fighters who performed and perform their official duties outside the Fatherland. The date was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan - it was exactly 32 years ago, on February 15, 1989. During the fighting in this country, about 15 thousand Soviet servicemen were killed in the period from 1979 to 1989.

Until 2011, February 15 was celebrated as the Remembrance Day of Internationalist Warriors, but it did not have official status. The new date was established as a single day of remembrance for all Russian citizens who showed dedication and devotion to the Fatherland while participating in hostilities abroad.

The Head of Bashkortostan today honored the memory of the republic residents who performed their official duties outside the Fatherland and laid flowers at the "Grieving Mother" memorial on Komarov Street in Ufa.
