Ufa became second Russian city to have twinning relations in Africa

The capital of Bashkiria will become the second Russian city to establish twinning relations with the city of East Africa. According to the Russian ambassador to Djibouti, Mikhail Golovanov, in January last year, an appeal was considered by the mayor's office of the Djibouti capital with a request to establish twinning relations with one of the Russian cities.

"Based on the results of the competitive selection, the city of Ufa was selected. At the moment, the process of finalizing the text of the relevant agreement with the city administration is underway," the diplomat said in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Note that the first city of Russia, which established friendly relations with the capital of the African state of Sudan, the city of Khartoum, was St. Petersburg.

Djibouti is the capital of the African state of the same name, located on the Gulf of Aden's coast and founded in 1883, since 1981 - a free port (formerly the administrative center of the colony of the French Coast of Somalia). According to the latest data, the population of the city is almost 500 thousand people.

Recall that currently, Ufa has nine twin cities: Ankara (Turkey), Halle, Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), Shenyang, Liaoning Province (PRC), Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province (PRC), Hefei, Anhui Province (PRC), Nanchang, Jiangxi Province (PRC), Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic), Minsk (Belarus).
