Radiy Khabirov discussed REC development prospects with representatives of universities and young scientists

Radiy Khabirov called the creation of a world-class Eurasian Research and Educational Center (REC) the main achievement of Bashkortostan in 2020. At a meeting in the Ufa Congress Hall "Toratau" with young scientists and rectors of universities and scientific organizations, the Head of the Region thanked all of them for supporting this decision and emphasized their outstanding contribution to the REC development. According to him, this is the first step towards transforming the education and science of the republic.

At the same time, he noted that the Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center's status should not be taken for granted and set the task of bringing the republican REC into the top five among similar centers throughout the country. The Head of Bashkortostan stressed the importance of exporting knowledge and attracting international students. The creation of a full-fledged student campus should play an essential role in this issue.

During the meeting, representatives of scientific organizations and leading universities of the republic spoke about their achievements and developments.

According to Elza Khusnutdinova, director of the Institute of Biochemistry and Genetics of the Ufa Federal Research Center RAS, their panels were engaged in a project that would allow developing new tools for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of several hereditary and pathological diseases. A number of universities and scientific organizations of the republican and federal levels are involved in the work.

Ruslan Rabaev, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Work of Ufa State Petroleum Technical University, noted that the university was taking part in implementing three directions and five scientific projects of the REC. Engineering and research centers of the university have been created for oil and gas engineering projects and hydrocarbons' rational use.

Kamil Ramazanov, Vice-Rector for Innovation at Ufa State Aviation Technical University, told about special medical materials developed at the university. Some USATU projects became the basis of the Eurasian Research and Educational Center's technological resources and made it possible to establish integration with leading Russian corporations, such as UEC and Skoltech.

Svetlana Mustafina, Vice-Rector for scientific and innovative work at Bashkir State University, noted that Bashkir State University is integrated into almost all REC projects.

Radiy Khabirov also congratulated the region's scientific community on their professional holiday - the Russian Science Day and recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin declared 2021 the Year of Science and Technology.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Region presented state awards of the republic to representatives of the scientific community.
