Bashkiria hit Top 10 regions of Russia by investment climate - ASI

Bashkiria took the 9th place in the National Rating of the Investment Climate of Russian Regions, the head of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives Svetlana Chupsheva said at a meeting of the ASI supervisory board held by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The head of state appreciated the work of the Bashkortostan government: “Traditionally, the Volga region is developing rapidly, efficiently. Tatarstan is the leader in terms of investment climate among the regions of the Volga Federal District, and indeed in the country as a whole, though, apparently, Bashkortostan is approaching it. Radiy Faritovich, when will you outperform Tatarstan? ”

“This is a well-known practice when the republics interact. It is a strong incentive for us and our neighbors. We call them our twin-republic. We are trying to do it, of course, it will take some time. In some sense, we are learning from them, we exchange experience, but we are getting closer to them,” said the Head of Bashkiria.

Radiy Khabirov spoke about the experience of the region, which formed the basis for its success: introducing "Investment Hour" sessions in the government, "Entrepreneurial Hour" sessions in the municipalities, establishing business sheriffs positions, creating a full line of organizational and financial and economic instruments (industrial parks, special economic zone), reducing administrative pressure. In 2019, the volume of investments grew by 13.6%, for the I quarter of 2020 - by 18%.

“We are looking for new ways of development; now we are working on the issue of combining business and science, as one of the points of possible growth. The Eurasian Scientific Center was established, and the support of large structures was secured. We are preparing to participate in world-class contests, and we are asking you to support us in it”, said Radiy Khabirov.

“I see what you mean, well, let us think about it,” Vladimir Putin answered.

For a year and a half, 59 “Investment Hour" sessions took place in Bashkiria, 230 projects worth 462 billion rubles were considered there. Of these, half are already being implemented.

“Our goal is to move on. 9th place is not the limit for such a strong and vibrant region as Bashkortostan”, Radiy Khabirov posted on his social media.
