Vladimir Putin supported amendment to Constitution lifting restrictions on number of presidential terms

Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on an amendment to the Constitution that would allow the presidential term to be “resetting to zero.” State Duma deputies supported the amendment: they voted “for” - 380, “against” - 44.
On March 10, speaking at a meeting of the State Duma, Putin supported the amendment to the Constitution about “resetting to zero” the number of presidential terms, specifying that this could be possible only if the Constitutional Court approved this provision, Forbes reports.
«In fact, this amendment will only be possible under one condition: if the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation provides an official ruling that this amendment does not contradict the principles and the main provisions of the Constitution», Putin said.
However, he spoke against deleting the restriction on the number of presidential terms from the Constitution. He also said that he did not see the need for early elections to the State Duma.
Earlier it was reported that Valentina Tereshkova, the United Russia deputy, proposed to make the draft amendments to the Constitution to lift the presidential term limit.
As it became known, the State Duma deputies supported the amendment to the Constitution after the adoption of the new Constitution. 380 deputies voted in favor, 44 - against, according to Meduza.
A nationwide vote on constitutional amendments will take place on Wednesday, April 22. This day will be a paid weekend.
