The State Duma began work on amendments to expand the maternity capital program. It was reported to TASS correspondent by the chairman of the committee on family, women, and children Tamara Pletneva. “The amendments have been received, work is underway,” Pletneva said, noting that the deputies will discuss them at a meeting on February 19.

Vladimir Putin in his Address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President proposed extending the maternity capital program until at least the end of 2026, issuing a certificate already at the birth of the first child, and also increasing the amount of this payment for families with two children.

As previously reported, the amendments primarily extend the capital program until December 31, 2026, with its annual indexation. Maternity capital will be paid to families where the first child was born or adopted on January 1, 2020 - they will receive 466 thousand 617 rubles. In the case of birth or adoption in the families of the second child and subsequent children, the amount of payment should be 616 thousand 617 rubles.
