Vladimir Putin commented on situation with coronavirus

Russian President Vladimir Putin, for the first time, commented on the situation with coronavirus. At a meeting on measures to counter the spread of the disease in the country, he set the task to minimize human losses from the spread of the disease, TASS reports.

"We understand well that regrettably, every year, all countries, including ours, lose people because of both the flu and pneumonia. Thus, we have a common goal - to minimize these losses and do all we can to eliminate them", the edition quotes the words of the Russian leader. "As for the new coronavirus, the main issue is that it is new. The question is whether we are ready for this challenge. I believe the Government, Healthcare Ministry, and Rospotrebnadzor will do all their best to put an end to any surprises for the overwhelming majority of our people," Putin underlined.

The President noted that many fatalities had occurred in China. He also recalled that the Russian government had already developed several measures to prevent the virus spread in Russia.

There are no coronavirus cases registered in Bashkortostan to date, but five air passengers who have flown from China to Ufa have been hospitalized. It was announced on January 29, at a meeting with reporters by Oleg Mavlyutov, head of the transport supervision and sanitary protection department of the Rospotrebnadzor in Bashkortostan.

Another board flew from China to Ufa on January 27. The next day, a mother with a two-year-old child and another man with a suspected infectious disease were hospitalized.
