“Support and revival of rural healthcare is important for me” - Head of Bashkiria

The head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, took part in the expanded meeting of the State Council Presidium, which was held in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad Region, by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The key topic of the meeting was the tasks of the regions in the field of healthcare.

As Vladimir Putin underlined, much has been achieved in the field of healthcare over the past few years. The steady growth of life expectancy is a very important indicator that showed positive changes in our healthcare system. Thus, in 2014, it was 70.9 years and in August of this year, it was 73.6 years.

Meanwhile, over 60 percent of our citizens have a low opinion of the quality of healthcare, mostly primary healthcare.

«You know that since August we have held a series of meetings on this subject and discussed the problems that are vital to people, including the limited quality of primary healthcare institutions, that is, medical and obstetrical stations, infirmaries, outpatient clinics, and district hospitals. Many buildings were built in the middle of the past century and have not been repaired for many, many years. Diagnostic equipment is often scarce, and practically all of them are short on personnel», Vladimir Putin stated.

Currently, in accordance with the instructions given by the President to the Government, the plans for upgrading primary healthcare have been endorsed. Based on these, the regions must draft their regional programs before January 10 and adopt them before July 1.

As Bashinform News Agency reported earlier, the expanded meeting of the State Council Presidium was preceded by a three-day workshop, during which regional leaders worked in groups.

In particular, the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, joined the subgroup that was involved in primary health care. The proposals formed during the seminar were discussed at a meeting of the Presidium of the State Council.

According to Radiy Khabirov, in general, on many issues, "we came up with proposals so that they would be included in the presidential instructions." After that, the corresponding work will be carried out in the regions and "we very much hope that the president will support us".

“I have already said that the issue of support and revival of rural healthcare is important for me,” the Head of Bashkortostan added.
