The presidents of Russia and Egypt held talks ahead of the Russia-Africa forum in Sochi. It was, inter alia, about the resumption of charter flights.
“The joint work to resume flights will be continued in order to meet specific dates over time,” a spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told TASS. The other day, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that the topic of charters would be discussed at a meeting of the two leaders and that the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport would be invited. The Egyptian side was going to tell what is being done to fully resume flight connection.
Air traffic between the Russian Federation and Egypt was completely interrupted in November 2015 after the crash of the plane of the Russian airline Kogalymavia over Sinai.
