Ballot processing systems will be installed at 225 polling stations in elections of Bashkortostan head

Today, the Central Election Commission of Bashkortostan demonstrated to journalists and representatives of candidates for the post of head of the republic the possibilities of ballot paper processing systems - electronic devices for counting votes in elections in Russia.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Bashkortostan, Ilona Makarenko, noted that in the election of the head of the republic, the systems would be installed at 225 polling stations of the republic with the number of voters amounting to 1000 people. The complexes will cover about 11% of the total number of voters in the republic, a total of 335 thousand people. By this indicator, Bashkortostan is on a par with the regions of Russia.

“All the 2010 ballot paper processing systems in the amount of 186 units have been updated and meet the requirements of the 2017 complexes (39 units). They will greatly facilitate the work of members of precinct election commissions since these complexes count the votes and print the final protocol based on the results of the vote. In Ufa, video surveillance will be conducted at all sites, ”said Ilona Makarenko.

The ballot paper processing systems significantly reduce the time for summing up the election results. Each protocol now has its QR code, which can be photographed, and the final protocol can be read on your smartphone using the special application. Thus, an attempt to falsify election results in polling stations where they are installed is completely ruled out; manual vote-counting is excluded. The cost of one ballot paper processing system is 200-250 thousand rubles.

“All the systems have already been tested. On the voting day, they will be tested again one hour before the opening of polling stations. After that they will be sealed and ready for operation”, said Dzhikhanur Altynbaev, the head of the information center of the Central Executive Committee of Bashkiria.
