Bashkiria’s head elections will be held on September 8

UFA, 30 May 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Azat Gizatullin/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Today, at a plenary meeting deputies of the State Assembly RB set a date for the elections of the head of Bashkortostan. They will be held on September 8. According to Article 10 of the Electoral Code of the Republic, in the event of the early termination of the powers of the head of the republic, elections are held on the nearest second Sunday of September. The deputies of the parliament of the republic extended the work of the polling stations for two hours. They will be open from 7 am to 9 pm in the elections for the head of Bashkortostan.
“We extend the work of the polling stations for the convenience of voters. The proposed rule will provide an opportunity to vote for more citizens,” commented on the Chairman of the State Assembly Konstantin Tolkachev. “Today, the working schedule is different for everyone. Many citizens work in shifts, not everybody has a day off on Sunday, especially during the harvest season. And on the contrary, those who have a day off, often leave the city with their families and return in the evening, not having time to vote. If we recall the Soviet period, the polling stations worked from 6 am to 10 pm. I think an increase in working hours will not cause difficulties in the work of election commissions”.
