Memorandum of cooperation with Association of Italian Industrialists is signed in Bashkiria

On March 5, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Government of Bashkortostan and the Association of Italian Industrialists "Confederation of Italian Industry" in Russia (Confindustria Russia) in the House of the Republic.

The document was signed by the Acting Head of the region Radiy Khabirov and the president of Confindustria Russia Ernesto Ferlenghi.

The memorandum is aimed at forming and developing mutually beneficial relations in the economic, scientific and technological areas, identifying new areas of economic cooperation and business opportunities, support for industrial and commercial localization projects.

Ernesto Ferlenghi stressed that there were always good, constructive relations between Russia and Italy. The trade turnover between the countries used to reach 40 billion euros, but in recent years, for a number of reasons, it has decreased significantly.

“Our association unites 98 percent of Italian companies, including small and medium ones. It is a tool for turning our intellectual, social, entrepreneurial potential into specific projects. The main force in the conditions of the modern market is import substitution, localization of production. Therefore, we are ready to create joint Russian-Italian enterprises. In Bashkortostan, our task is to bring Italian companies here as quickly as possible and to start working together effectively”, said the president of Confindustria Russia.

According to Ernesto Ferlenghi, the most promising areas for cooperation development are pharmaceuticals, agriculture, oilfield services. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen cultural interaction.

“Today, the focus of our attention, the tasks we are solving, is to expand and improve business relations with our foreign partners, to develop foreign economic activity as a whole,” said Radiy Khabirov. In particular, he proposed to work out the issue of creating a representative office of the republic in Italy, to hold Days of Bashkortostan in one of the Italian cities with a presentation of the industrial and economic potential of the region. Besides he instructed to hold negotiations with airlines on creating a regular direct flight to Europe to enhance business contacts.

The head of the republic also stressed that Bashkortostan might be interesting for Italian tourists as a territory with unique natural objects. Therefore, the development of this area should also be a priority.
