United Russia’s primaries will be held in Bashkiria on May 26

In 2019, in addition to the election of the head of Bashkortostan, more than 800 election campaigns are planned to replace 7,336 deputy seats in the republic. The composition of the rural and urban settlements councils will change almost completely. The Secretary of the Regional Council of United Russia Konstantin Tolkachev told the Bashinform News Agency that the party would determine its candidates for municipal elections during the primaries.

The day of preliminary voting is scheduled for May 26 from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. Konstantin Tolkachev explained that the primaries can be conducted using 4 different models. Preliminary voting in municipalities with the number of voters of 10 thousand people and more will be held according to the first model. It means that a candidate must take part in at least two debates. All candidates have the right to campaign in their support. Any citizen who has an active electoral right can vote in the primaries.

Preliminary voting in municipalities with the number of voters less than 10 thousand may be held according to the second, third or fourth model. Given the past election campaigns, the regional council of United Russia recommended holding a preliminary vote according to the third model with the involvement of public organizations.

“The procedure itself consists in holding meetings of electors with candidates, where they present their program, answer questions. Voting is carried out by the electors immediately at the end of the meeting. We need to show a special attitude to our candidates; they should be worthy, locally respected people”, said Konstantin Tolkachev.
