Vladimir Putin will hold annual large press conference today

Today, Vladimir Putin will hold an annual large press conference for Russian and foreign media, it will be the first in his new presidential term and has already attracted a record number of journalists - over 1,700 media representatives have received accreditation for the event. The list includes various media from the American Wall Street Journal and the German Spiegel, to the “Michurinskaya Mysl”, “Sibirsky Kharakter”, and “Birobidzhanskaya Zvezda”. The Bashinform News Agency is represented by Stanislav Shakhov. The event will last several hours and will sum up the year results.

The current press conference is the 14th for Putin during his leadership of the country. The president has already devoted 43.5 hours to communication with the media in such a format - soon the total duration of the press conferences held will reach two days.

Holding such press conferences by the head of state is a long tradition, reports RIA Novosti.

Every year the format gained more and more popularity, and the conference took more and more time. The record was set in 2008: Putin answered 80 questions in four hours and forty minutes.

Last year's large press conference lasted three hours and 42 minutes, the president answered 65 questions. When asked about his goals for the new presidential term, Putin did not speak about his election program, but said that “without any doubt, everything should be aimed at increasing the incomes of our people.”

Last year, only every 30th journalist had an opportunity to ask his/her question. As before, the audience did not have enough time.
