Delegation of Saxon Landtag is paying visit to Bashkiria

UFA, 29 August 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. A delegation from the Saxon Landtag arrived in Bashkiria on a working visit. Saxony is a long-standing economic partner of the republic. The delegation consists of 25 people; it is headed by Sebastian Fischer, Member of Parliament of Saxony, Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Agriculture. Yesterday the delegates had a meeting with the Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov. He noted that "all sorts of geopolitical difficulties do not hinder mutually beneficial cooperation strengthening between us". The foreign trade turnover of Bashkortostan with Germany is increasing every year: according to the results of the first half of 2018, it exceeded the figures of the whole last year - reached 220 million dollars. Exports to Germany increased by 80%, imports increased fourfold.

The Saxon delegation held meetings with representatives of the State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations, agriculture, forestry, and ecology sectors representatives. The guests were interested in the possibilities of organizing joint ventures in the territory of Bashkiria for the production of a wide range of goods. The issues of organizing a direct flight from Ufa to Dresden, promoting joint educational programs, including student exchange, application of German technologies in waste sorting, processing and recycling were considered.

The German delegation visited the Agrarian University, where a possibility of joint research in the mechanization of agriculture with the use of precision farming systems, in the field of organic farming and the production of environmentally friendly products was discussed. The guests invited Bashkir students to visit Saxon farmers, the university reported.
