Rustem Khamitov met with official Saxon Landtag delegation

The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov met with an official delegation of the Saxon Landtag (FRG), headed by Sebastian Fischer, Member of Parliament of Saxony, Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Agriculture.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the State Assembly - Kurultay RB Konstantin Tolkachev, heads of relevant ministries and departments.

The parties discussed prospects for strengthening and expanding interregional cooperation, joint projects implementation.

Rustem Khamitov marked that Bashkortostan's foreign trade turnover with Germany was increasing every year: according to the results of January-June, it had already significantly exceeded the figures of the whole last year – having reached 220 million dollars. Export to Germany increased by 80 percent, imports quadrupled.

The head of the region announced the main directions of joint activities planned by Bashkortostan and Saxony: engineering, high technologies, chemical industry, agriculture, environment protection. They will also concern interaction in the field of science, culture, youth policy and support of public initiatives.

During the meeting, representatives of the Saxon Landtag factions noted the importance of interregional and inter-parliamentary cooperation development. In their opinion, strengthening business and cultural ties, implementing joint projects will contribute to building a harmonious policy between the Russian Federation and the European Union, and to overcoming the existing difficulties.

Rustem Khamitov invited the representatives of Saxony to take part in the Fourth Small Business Forum of the Regions of the SCO and BRICS Member States, as well as in major international events that would be held in the republic in the coming years - the Summer International Children's Games 2019, the World Folklore Festival 2020 and the International Beekeeping Congress "Apimondia" 2021.
