Konstantin Tolkachev met with Saxon Landtag delegation

A meeting of the republican deputy corps with the official delegation of the Saxon Landtag of the Free State of Saxony was held in the capital of Bashkiria. The Speaker of the regional parliament Konstantin Tolkachev, welcoming guests, noted that relations between Bashkortostan and Saxony had been strengthening year by year.

Konstantin Tolkachev told the guests about the specific features of the republican parliament work, about forthcoming elections of the State Assembly deputies, laws adopted in the republic. He also touched upon the history of diplomatic relations between Bashkortostan and Saxony.

"They have been developing since June 1992. It was then that the Joint Statement of the Government of the Free State of Saxony and the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan on trade, economic, social and cultural ties was signed", the Chairman of the Parliament said. "In 2002, the State Assembly hosted an eight-people delegation of Landtag led by the Vice President of the Landtag, Mrs. Andrea Dombua. Following the visit, a protocol was signed on the intentions of further development of mutually beneficial inter-parliamentary cooperation".

Konstantin Tolkachev also singled out the visits of the Saxon delegations to Bashkortostan in 2008 and 2017, the visit of the State Assembly delegation to Saxony in June this year as important milestones for the development of connections between the regions of the two states.

A tour over the House of the State Assembly was organized for the members of the delegation. The guests visited the Museum of the History of the Parliament of Bashkortostan, the Great Meeting Hall, the Hall of State Symbols of the Republic.
