Anti-Corruption Department was created at Head of Bashkortostan Office

UFA, 3 August 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. An Anti-Corruption Department was created at the Office of the Head of Bashkortostan. The corresponding decree was signed by Rustem Khamitov.
The department was formed to replace the previously existing department for the prevention of corruption and other offenses and the implementation of anti-corruption policy, which was part of the Office of the Interdepartmental Council for Public Security RB. Thus, corruption combating at different levels of government will be strengthened.
In the region new approaches are implemented in anti-corruption policy. Amendments were made to a number of republican laws, according to which municipal employees are obliged to provide information on incomes and expenditures to the Head of Bashkortostan. If violations are revealed, the head of the region is obliged to apply to the local government with a request for early termination of such official powers.
As a result of 2017, 33 civil and 133 municipal employees were brought to justice. Serious corruption offenses were identified in the administrations of Ufa and Neftekamsk. As a result of inspections heads and deputies of several village councils in different regions of the republic were stripped of their powers.
"We understand that a great anti-corruption work has been done in the country and in the republic for many years. The president of the country, its leadership demands from local and federal authorities to strengthen activities in this part. Corruption hinders the development of our country's economy, creates huge problems for entrepreneurs and businesses", said Rustem Khamitov at the last meeting of the anti-corruption commission.
