Bashkortostan delegation discusses cooperation directions with Azerbaijan in Baku

UFA, 30 May 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The Bashkortostan delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB Farhad Samedov is on an official visit to the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku.
According to the State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations, the visit program includes meetings in the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Embassy in Baku, as well as participation in the International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition.
On May 29, talks were held with First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyubov. The main topic of the conversation was cooperation in the economy and humanitarian sphere.
During the meeting with the Minister of Energy, Perviz Shahbazov, representatives of the Bashkortostan delegation discussed the cooperation prospects in this area. The Azerbaijani side is interested in energy equipment produced in Bashkiria, and technological innovations in the field of petrochemistry. The Minister also accepted an invitation to come to the Russian Energy Forum, which will be held in Ufa in October this year.
The directions of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bashkortostan in the industry were also considered at a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy Niyazi Safarov. In particular, it was a question of creating joint ventures in Azerbaijan to produce oil equipment and caustic soda. In addition, there is a need for products of the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
According to the State Committee, the trade turnover volume between Bashkortostan and Azerbaijan amounted to about 18 million dollars in 2017. Bashkortostan supplies Azerbaijan with wood products, chemical products, equipment for the oil and gas industry, ferrous metals and products made of them, glassware, agricultural products and food products. At the same time, the share of non-primary non-energy exports amounted to 96.6% of the total volume of goods supplied to Azerbaijan. Agricultural products, food, and other goods are imported from Azerbaijan.
There are 6 enterprises in the field of agriculture, hotel business, catering, construction and trade operating in the territory of Bashkortostan with the participation of capital from Azerbaijan.
