Azerbaijan is ready to hold presidential elections - Liliya Gumerova

UFA, 11 April 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/. The first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education and Culture, a representative from the executive body of the state power of the Republic of Bashkortostan Liliya Gumerova participated in a meeting of the group of observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Mazayir Panahov.

Liliya Gumerova notes that the presidential elections in Azerbaijan for the next seven years were thoroughly prepared for. According to the information provided, about 900 international observers from 59 countries of the world, 118 representatives of international media out of 21 countries, experts in the field of suffrage have arrived in Baku to observe the elections with eight registered presidential candidates. According to the CEC of Azerbaijan, there are more than five million voters in the country, and 5,641 polling stations are established.

The Senator also spoke about developing Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation. She marked that the Federation Council was in constant contact with colleagues from Azerbaijan and worked together in education, science and culture spheres.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Social Policy, a representative of the legislative (representative) body of state power of the Smolensk region Lyudmila Kozlova.
