8 candidates remained in presidential race - CEC of Russia

UFA, 1 February 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. The CEC of Russia completed reception of voters signature sheets in support of the nomination of candidates for the post of President of the Russian Federation. Eight candidates remained in the run for the chair of the Russian President.
"Six nominated candidates submitted signatures, others, unfortunately, "left the race" and notified the Central Election Commission about this. It is already clear that there will be no more than eight candidates in the ballot. However, the final number of candidates participating in the election campaign will be determined by February 10, when the CEC of Russia completes verification of signatures", said Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the Russian CEC.
During the last day of receipt of voter signature sheets, the Central Election Commission received the signatures collected in support of:
Ksenia Sobchak (All-Russian Political Party "Civil Initiative")
Maxim Suraykin (Political Party COMMUNIST PARTY COMMUNISTS OF RUSSIA)
Earlier, signature sheets were submitted to the CEC of Russia by:
Vladimir Putin (self-nomination)
Grigory Yavlinsky (Political Party "Russian United Democratic Party" YABLOKO ")
Boris Titov (All-Russian Political Party "PARTY OF GROWTH")
Sergei Baburin (PUBLIC ORGANIZATION - POLITICAL PARTY «RUSSIAN SOCIAL UNION»)
Two candidates from parliamentary parties - Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR) and Pavel Grudinin (CPRF) are exempted from the collection of signatures under the law. They are registered candidates for the post of the President of the Russian Federation.
The remaining candidates, who participated in the procedure for collecting signatures in support of their nomination for the post of President of the Russian Federation, failed to submit signature sheets to the CEC of Russia within the prescribed period.
