Vladimir Putin: defense industry enterprises production should become half civil by 2030

On Wednesday, January 24, the Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in Ufa on issues of diversifying the production of civilian products by defense industry complex companies. The event took place at the UEC-UMPO, Ufa enterprise, which is a part of Rostec State Corporation. The meeting was attended by the head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov.

Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of diversification: in the future, when the peak of orders from the Defense Ministry would be passed, its volumes would be reduced.

"The release of civilian products should fully, as much as possible, load the existing capacities of enterprises and ensure their financial stability, especially after 2020, when, the peak of supplies within the framework of the state defense order is passed," Vladimir Putin said.

According to the head of state, Russia already has examples of diversification production by defense enterprises: the Moscow Institute of Heat Engineering produces equipment for water treatment, the company "Schwabe" established a production of medical equipment, and the "Kalashnikov" concern – launched a production of civilian boats, motorcycles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to Vladimir Putin, the share of civilian products manufactured at defense enterprises should grow to 30% by 2025, and to 50% by 2030. At the same time, this production should be of high quality and competitive in price.
