Russia will introduce uniform requirements for safety at schools

UFA, 23 January 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. In Russia, private security companies may appear which will specialize in school safety. In addition, a national standard for ensuring the safety of educational organizations can be developed, and a school guard professional standard may become mandatory. This is reported by Izvestia with reference to Anatoly Vyborny, the deputy chairman of the State Duma's Committee for Security and Counteracting Corruption.
At the moment, a possibility of creating a special working group to improve legislation in the sphere of protecting socially significant facilities, including schools, is discussed. Representatives of all interested departments will be invited to participate: Rosgvardia, FSB, MOE and Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the security community.
The deputy recalled that the Ministry of Labor approved the professional standards in December 2015, but they were non-regulatory and operated only in Moscow.
The issue in the State Duma was taken up after incidents in schools in the Perm region and Buryatia: in Perm, an attacker was at school without a pass, and in Ulan-Ude, according to media reports, the educational institution was guarded by watchmen.
According to experts, as a result of measures taken in the future, the quality of services will significantly increase.
