United Russia proposed to legalize extreme tourism

UFA, 26 October 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. A new concept of "extreme tourism" will be introduced in the legislation. This will allow regulating this type of tourist activity. The legislative initiative was submitted to the State Duma by United Russia, TASS reported.

"Extreme tourism is a type of tourism that combines active rest and (or) sports, including for entertainment, requiring special skills and knowledge associated with increased risk of injury, using special equipment (devices) and (or) ) technical means, which can be sources of increased danger", the draft law says.

The tourism industry in Russia is developing rapidly. In 2016, the country was visited by 3.3 million foreign tourists, which is 11.2% more than in 2015. Along with the usual cultural-educational and health-improving types of tourism in recent years, tourism products, including elements of extreme tourism: mountaineering, windsurfing, diving, hang-gliding, mountain skiing, kiting, rafting, rock climbing, speleology are becoming popular and in demand. Parliamentarians are sure that engaging in any of these sports for entertainment purposes is associated with increased risk factors. Therefore, it is necessary to create basic safety conditions when providing tourism services that require special skills and knowledge from consumers.
