Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe agreed to sign peace treaty between Russia and Japan

UFA, 8 September 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe, during a meeting on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok considered the issue of a peace treaty and joint activities in the Southern Kuriles. "We have discussed the issue of the peace treaty, the possibility of joint economic operation on the South Kurils," Vladimir Putin stated after the talks. The Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe said that the signing of a peace treaty between the two countries was planned. The Russian leader also noted that he was in constant contact with the head of the Japanese government.
According to the president, cooperation with the Japanese Prime Minister also helps maintaining business contacts. "Japanese companies make extensive use of the advantages of doing business in priority development areas. In April 2016, a greenhouse farm was launched in the Khabarovsk Territory jointly with JGC Evergreen and the Hokkaido Bank. There are plans to build three more such complexes. The Russia's first gas liquefaction plant is built, which exports the bulk of its products to Japan. Work is underway at Sakhalin LNG to build the third production line. We are building up our cooperation in nuclear energy. We hope that the joint projects to clear up the consequences Fukushima accident will be coordinated by the end of the year, "Vladimir Putin said.
