We are working on eliminating conflict of interests - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 25 July 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. The Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov held a meeting of the Commission for Coordinating Combating Corruption Activity in the region. It was devoted to the prevention and detection of conflict of interest cases.

"The last-year inspections by the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, the Office of the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the Volga Federal District testified to the fact that we should be more active in this area. According to the results of these inspections, as it is known, some of our former colleagues have lost their jobs", Rustem Khamitov said. "This year the staff of the Security Council Office of the republic also revealed shortcomings in the work of some public authorities and local self-government, in particular, in the Ministry of Health, the administration of the Tatyshly district".

The Head of Bashkortostan said that on July 6 amendments were made to a number of republican laws on countering corruption at the municipal level. Persons holding municipal positions are now obliged to provide information on incomes and expenditures to the head of the republic, who in case of revealing their unreliability, has the right to apply to the local government authority for early termination of powers of a person committed such violation.

The Secretary of the Interdepartmental Council for Public Security RB Alexey Kasyanov reported on the ongoing work to identify cases of non-compliance by civil servants with requirements for the prevention or settlement of conflicts of interest.

Thus, in 2017 five state employees received notices about a conflict of interests and 23 notifications of its possible occurrence. As a result, measures were taken to prevent or resolve conflicts of interests by changing their official position.

"Our citizens should be aware that we are working on eliminating the conflict of interests. This is our main task", stressed Rustem Khamitov.
