Vladimir Putin met with Xi Jinping in Astana

UFA, 9 June 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. Vladimir Putin named the forthcoming visit of the President of the People's Republic of China to Moscow the significant event of the year in the relations between the two countries. The President of Russia and Xi Jinping met in Astana, where today the meeting of the Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is held. The Heads of States take every opportunity to discuss the international agenda.

"This year, we have many meetings at various venues. Despite the complicated international situation, our relations continue their positive development. This development and our close cooperation and mutual support have great significance on the global level", the Chinese leader stressed.

He noted that he would be very glad to meet with Vladimir Putin in 20 days in Moscow. "I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of Russia and express my wish to see Russia achieve new successes in its national development under your leadership", Xi Jinping said.

Last year, the trade turnover between the Russian Federation and China grew by almost 4 percent to $66 billion, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported.

Recall that the previous meeting of the SCO Council with the participation of Vladimir Putin was held in Ufa in 2015. The next meeting may take place in Chelyabinsk - the neighbouring region filed an appropriate application.
