Delegation of Saxon Landtag met with Bashkortostan parliamentarians

The official delegation of members of the Saxon Landtag of the Free State of Saxony and the Parliamentary Forum of Central and Eastern Europe visited the House of the State Assembly - the Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Guests from Germany visited a conference hall of the republican parliament, the Heraldic Hall, the history museum of the regional parliament.

After a tour of the Heraldic Hall, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the State Assembly - the Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan Konstantin Tolkachev, his deputies and the chairmen of the committees of the republican parliament.

Konstantin Tolkachev told the guests about social and economic development of the region, natural resources of the region, famous people of our republic, such as Rudolf Nureyev. He also noted that relations between Bashkortostan and Saxony are multilateral, including that they cover the sphere of inter-parliamentary relations.

The head of the official delegation of the Landtag of the Free State of Saxony, President of the Parliamentary Forum of Central and Eastern Europe Mr. Sebastian Gemkov spoke about activities of the Parliament of Saxony, the way of its formation and its faction structure. He marked that he saw great prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation between Bashkortostan and the Free State of Saxony in the field of trade, industry, culture, science, education and further strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties.

"Our cooperation started twenty-five years ago, when the Free State of Saxony was only recreated. In recent years, relations between our regions have weakened somewhat, but we have a great desire to develop them further," said Sebastian Gemkov.

According to the head of the Saxon delegation, there are many enterprises in Saxony that are interested in cooperation with the business community of Bashkortostan.

"There are all conditions for such work. We are particularly interested in joint projects in engineering, petrochemistry, waste processing and energy generation", the head of the delegation said.

Sebastian Gemkov also stated that the Saxon side was ready to host a delegation of deputies and business circles of Bashkortostan in the near future.
