Decade of Childhood program will be submitted for public discussion - Anna Kuznetsova

Combining the efforts of parents as the most important commissioners for the rights of their children, the authorities, all involved structures will lead to important decisions for our children. This was stated by the Children's Rights Ombudsman under the President of the Russian Federation Anna Kuznetsova at the Parental Forum in Ufa.

According to the Children's Ombudsman, the strategy of the Decade of Childhood should be built on three principles. The first is that protecting the rights of children cannot be considered separately from protecting the rights of family.

The Ombudsman noted that she, as a mother of many children, as a person who had been engaged in specific families, children's stories for many years, really wanted to see a child's eyes behind the figures, reports and statistics.

Anna Kuznetsova separately focused on the topic, which was a continuation of yesterday's conversation with the President of Russia.

"It is quite relevant for Bashkortostan too. This is a problem of information security. This is a challenge our children are facing now, and we are partly, a little late in these decisions. We ourselves can hardly distinguish truthful information from false, destructive one from creative. The urgency of this topic was prompted to me by the children at a meeting of the public council. The boys and girls came out with a project that helps to distinguish truthful information on the Internet from false information. Perhaps it is time to unite our efforts here".

According to Anna Kuznetsova, on the one hand, measures have been taken, the relevant laws have been adopted. But this is only part of measures that are needed.

"The second part is an alternative content. This is the information that will be attractive for children, which will provide them with an alternative, which we lack now. It is the lack of the positive content oriented on creative values, sports, groups of people who can become an example for them. And here we adults also should find certain mechanisms".

Anna Kuznetsova expressed hope that in the republic such mechanisms, children's Internet projects, accessible additional education teaching children a culture of information choice would be created. Anna Kuznetsova reminded that today was the holiday of all people, because we all were children once.
