Liliya Gumerova: "The whole world views Russia as a guarantor of preserving a traditional family and family values"

On the International Family Day, the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education and Culture Liliya Gumerova took part in the awarding ceremony of the Festival of Substitute Families in Ufa. The Senator greeted the audience on behalf of the Federation Council and stressed that in Russia and in the Republic of Bashkortostan a lot of effort had been made to strengthen the institution of the family.

"The Russian family preserves and carefully keeps all the best family traditions of our country. And today the whole world views Russia as a guarantor of preserving a traditional family and family values".

The Substitute Families Festival is held in the capital of Bashkortostan for the fifth time and is designed to promote substitute families, to spread positive experience of family relations in a substitute family. This year, festive events - sports games, flash mobs, master classes for cooking national dishes, puppet shows and exhibitions of creative works of substitute families of the city were organized at the "Zelenaya Roscha" health resort, which were attended by more than 300 people.

Liliya Gumerova told the participants of the festival about the main documents aimed at developing and preserving the institution of the family and protecting children - the National Action Strategy to the Benefit of Children, the Strategy for the Education Development and the Concept of Family Policy. Due to the measures taken, according to the Senator, the number of orphans in Russia has declined almost half for recent years.
