Senator Liliya Gumerova held meeting on special education development in Ufa

UFA, 11 May 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. The Senator Liliya Gumerova together with representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Education of Bashkortostan got acquainted with problems of teaching disabled children and special needs children in the republic. The First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education and Culture conducted a working meeting at the Ufa Special School No. 120 for pupils with mental retardation. The Senator outlined ways to improve further legislation in this area.

The parliamentarian noted that Bashkortostan was one of the regions with the largest number of schools providing various special conditions for education to disabled children and special needs children. In addition, the republic is among the leading regions on creating an architectural barrier-free environment.

In Bashkortostan, the education of disabled children and special needs children is carried out in 36 special organizations and general education schools, where 10,108 children acquire knowledge, including 5,466 in special schools, 4,088 in general education schools and 554 disabled children using distance education technologies.

Liliya Gumerova stressed that the special schools in Bashkortostan achieved good results, actively implemented innovative projects and methods. The main indicator of their successful activity is that almost all pupils of these institutions acquire professions and establish themselves in life.

During the inspection of the premises of the institution, the Senator discussed with the management of the Ufa special school issues of rendering assistance in the part of replacing the roof, accomplishing the territory and sports grounds. It is also planned to hold a social campaign in the near future, within the framework of which interactive boards for an elementary school will be purchased for the educational institution.
