Ufa is preparing for co-chairmen meeting of "Volga-Yangtze" Joint Working Group

UFA, 5 April 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. A meeting of the Russian part of the Joint Working Group of the Volga Federal District regions and the upper middle stream of the Yangtze River of the People's Republic of China (format "Volga-Yangtze") for cooperation in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres will be held in Ufa on April 12. The co-chairmen of the Joint Working Group are Alexei Sukhov, the Deputy Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the Volga Federal District and Li Huilai, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

Yesterday a meeting of the Russian part of the Joint Working Group was held in Nizhny Novgorod under the leadership of Aleksey Sukhov.

During a videoconference participants discussed organizational issues of the upcoming meeting of the Joint Working Group in Ufa, as well as proposals for further implementation of projects within the framework of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Alexei Sukhov noted that the Russian delegation would include deputy high officials of the regions, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Rosturizm. The Chinese side will be led by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Li Huilai. The main activities of the Joint Working Group will be held in the Ufa Congress Hall.

Within the framework of the bilateral meeting, reports of the Russian side - the representatives of Bashkortostan and Mari El, Chuvashia, Samara and Ulyanovsk regions are scheduled. In addition, participants will discuss a possibility of signing Framework Agreements on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation in the framework of the second meeting of the Council in the format of "Volga-Yangtze". The meeting is scheduled for June this year in Anhui province of China.

In Ufa, a cultural program will be organized for Chinese guests. The delegation from China will visit the M.V. Nesterov Bashkir State Art Museum and the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the press service of the Presidential Envoy to the Volga Federal District informs.

The Joint Working Group was formed in May 2013. It included representatives of the regions of the parties at the level of vice-governors, federal authorities and leading state-owned banks. The Russian side included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Ministry of Culture of Russia, Rosturizm, the State Corporation "Bank for Development of Foreign Economic Activities".

Meetings of the Council are planned to be held annually with drawing up final protocols.
