Rustem Khamitov held session of Bashkortostan Government

UFA, 29 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. On March 29 in Ufa, the Head of Bashkortostan, Rustem Khamitov, held a meeting of the Government RB dedicated to the results of social and economic development of the region in 2016.

The Head of the Republic noted that in 2016 the volume of industrial production grew by 2.6 percent, agriculture - by almost one percent. According to the index of investment in fixed assets (104.2 percent), the republic became the leader in the Volga Federal District. At the end of the year, the budget surplus amounted to 10 billion rubles.

In the republic about 2.7 million sq m of housing were put into operation, which is 0.3 percent higher than the level of 2015. In this indicator, Bashkortostan ranks first in the Volga Federal District and is one of the leaders in the country.

“Important steps have been taken to improve further the situation in the investment sphere. The cities of Kumertau and Belebey were among 11 priority development territories in the country. Bashkortostan became the only region where at once two cities received this status within a year,” Rustem Khamitov said.

The Head of the Region noted that in Bashkortostan there was a real increase in wages in general. The level of total unemployment decreased from 6.1 to 5.8 percent. The life expectancy in the republic increased from 70 to 71 years along with decrease in mortality.

Among the problematic issues that should be actively pursued, Rustem Khamitov named decline in the birth rate and labour migration outflow to other regions.

“The interest to the republic from foreign partners is growing. They are ready to cooperate with us,” said Rustem Khamitov. “Only last year, Ufa was visited by foreign delegations from 40 countries. Constructive negotiations with reaching important decisions for our republic were held. Now we need to get concrete results from these meetings, first of all, in the form of foreign investments in our region.”
