Konstantin Tolkachev represents Russia in Council of Europe’s Committee in Athens

The Chairman of the State Assembly of Bashkortostan Konstantin Tolkachev takes part in the session of the Committee of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe's on Monitoring, which takes place in Athens, Greece. It is scheduled to consider the Congress documents on the state of democracy at local and regional levels in the countries - members of the Council of Europe at the session.

One of the three statutory committees, the Monitoring Committee, where Konstantin Tolkachev is a member, assesses compliance with the European Charter of Local Self-Government, preparation of reports on the state of local and regional democracy in Europe and monitoring individual issues relating to local and regional democracy in member countries.

"The issues Included on the agenda of the session concern the rights and freedoms of citizens. Separately, it is planned to consider the issue of infringement of the rights of Russian-speaking population in Estonia. Development of democracy in different regions of Europe will be discussed. The Council consists of representatives from 46 countries. We are to analyze the quality of the performance of European regulations in certain regions ", Konstantin Tolkachev commented on his participation in the session.
