Russians named politician of year

UFA, 26 December 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Arina Rakhimkulova/. Vladimir Putin is the Politician of the Year for Russians. These are the data of the poll conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM). 64 percent of respondents named the President of the country.

According to VCIOM, he is followed by Sergey Lavrov (18 percent), Vladimir Zhirinovsky (8), Sergey Shoigu (8), Dmitry Medvedev (7). The President also takes the first position in the ranking of the Russian elite (77 percent).

33 percent of Russians named the war in Syria as the main global event in 2016 (a year ago this topic was also in the first place). The second line of the rating is occupied by the presidential elections in the United States (31 percent), the third by the sporting events (13).
